The Story of the Badgett Playhouse – Find out what can happen when a small community thinks big. The Playhouse Project was conceived by the Grand Rivers Chamber of Commerce and the Grand Rivers Tourism Commission. Their goal was to bring a year-round attraction to the community. With the help of local citizen Chip Tullar, the Tourism Commission found a young and talented couple who wanted to expand their theater careers into theater ownership. Utilizing a tract of land owned by the city, the Tourism Commission borrowed the money to construct a new 285 seat multi-purpose building. On opening night the Badgett family made a generous donation to the Commission and the theater was renamed the Badgett Playhouse. The Badgett Playhouse was designed and built to be the permanent home of the Variety show and to provide wonderful entertainment for the community.
